Modern Slavery

Modern slavery happens in communities everywhere. Over the past five years, council modern slavery referrals, particularly related to children, has seen a massive increase. Councils are working hard to tackle this horrendous crime, but they need your help.

Learn and look out for telltale signs, including people who may be dressed inappropriately for the work they are doing, or who appear frightened or withdrawn at work.

If you believe someone is a victim of modern slavery or exploitation, call police on 999 (101 if there is no immediate danger), or the Modern Slavery Helpline (UK Modern Slavery Helpline and Resource Centre) on 08000 121 700.
